Confession: I didn’t love taking family portraits when I first started in photography. I dreaded it actually. I preferred every other type of session. Not sure why, I just did. But man has that changed! Family portraits are my absolute favorite now. Maybe it’s because my own family has grown over the years and I now cherish the family pictures that we have. I love seeing them hanging in our home and feel the value they hold.
Now I get so excited when I have a family session. I love getting to know a little about each family member and showing their personalities through the photos. It’s always my goal to capture the connection between the family members and help them to remember that this phase, whatever phase they’re currently in, is so so special. We have fun, we goof around, we get lots of smiles, sometimes a few tears, and we always end up with awesome images that I can only hope these families love and cherish.
The Gaufin family was one of the most fun families to photograph ever! I made a quick stop on my Utah road trip adventure to take their multi-family pictures during their epic family reunion. One of the Gaufin daughters is one of my very best friends from Maryland and it was so lucky that we were both in Utah at the same time this summer! She is an amazing person and the funnest (yes funnest) person to hang out with. And now I can see where she gets it from. Her whole family is the funnest! It was such an honor to meet and hang out with the rest of her family. They were all such a blast and you can tell from the photos that we had a pretty great time taking pictures.
